From June 16 to June 18, the "5th China Conference on Microwave Ablation(CCMA 2023) and World Tumor Ablation Association (WTAA) Preparatory Meeting," hosted by the World Tumor Ablation Association WTAA (Preparatory), the Oncological Minimally Invasive Treatment Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, the Interventional Minimally Invasive Treatment Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association (CSIMIT), the Tumor Ablation Treatment Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and organized by ECO Medical Technology (Nanjing) Co.,Ltd., was held successfully in Nanjing. The forum selected papers from around the world and conducted the entire event in English, ensuring international standards. Key experts, doctors, and representatives from more than 30 countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, and India, in the field of tumor ablation, gathered in Nanjing to share and inspire each other, and jointly explore the latest concepts and developments in global tumor ablation treatment.

Focusing on Ablation to Create a Global Association
This academic feast of tumor ablation serves as both an arena
for the collision of ideas among domestic and foreign scholars and an important platform to drive
the future development of ablation. In order to accelerate the global dissemination of the concept
of tumor ablation and promote its wider adoption and application on a global scale, ECO Medical, in
collaboration with renowned experts in the field of ablation from both domestic and international
arenas, has initiated the establishment of the World Tumor Ablation Association (WTAA). WTAA will be
the world's first global association with a core focus on ablation. Through research, education, and
technological innovation in the field of ablation, WTAA aims to promote the development of the
discipline and improve patient treatment and quality of life.
The conference kicked off
with the inaugural working meeting of the WTAA Preparatory Committee on the day of registration.
Experts from around the world who are part of the WTAA Preparatory Committee gathered with a focus
on global development in ablation, combining innovative ideas and experiences. They engaged in
in-depth discussions and exchanges regarding the WTAA's charter and development plans, laying the
foundation and providing guiding principles for the future development of WTAA.

Gathering of Experts for a Shared Academic Feast
In addition to keynote speeches, this conference also featured various formats such as special presentations, roundtable discussions, thematic salons, case sharing, and poster exhibitions, comprehensively showcasing the latest achievements in the field of tumor ablation and the highest level of expertise from experts around the world.
With the theme "Shaping the Future of Ablation," the conference covered a wide range of topics including ablation of solid tumors in different locations such as liver, lung, and thyroid under the guidance of various imaging devices. It encompassed multiple ablation techniques such as microwave, radiofrequency, cryoablation, and nanoknife, with in-depth discussions on topics including three-dimensional precision ablation and the combined use of multiple technologies. Through in-depth exploration and research of the pain points and hot topics in the field of tumor ablation, domestic and international experts presented an academic feast of technological advancements, clinical practices, conceptual innovations, and future development ideas in the field of ablation.
Joining Forces in Response to National Strategy
Under the guidance of the "Belt and Road" strategy, CCMA implements the practical "Chinese approach" in the field of tumor ablation. It promotes tumor treatment technologies, with "tumor microwave ablation" as a representative, to go global and provide a new path for the world based on Chinese principles. This aims to benefit people worldwide by advancing the achievements in the field of tumor ablation.
The Pan-Arab Society of Radiological Intervention (PAIRS) and the Kazakhstan Society of Interventional Radiologists (KSIOR) have signed strategic cooperation agreements with the World Tumor Ablation Association (WTAA). These partnerships leverage the influence of each association to jointly promote the development of the tumor ablation discipline, foster talent cultivation, improve standardized treatment levels, and build a community of shared destiny in the tumor ablation industry.
Pairs and KSIOR have separately signed strategic cooperation agreements with WTAA.
Young Doctors with Skills, Ideals, and Responsibility
To harness the creativity of young doctors and showcase the talent of the new generation in the field of tumor ablation, ECO Medical, in collaboration with the Chinese Medical Education Association's Minimally Invasive Interventional Therapy Committee (CSIMIT), has launched the "Compass: First Youth Doctor Minimally Invasive Ablation Skills Competition," a mentor-guided academic competition in the ablation field.
After months of nationwide selection and qualifying rounds, young doctors from five qualifying regions engaged in a fierce final battle, with mentors and on-site judges witnessing their peak performances. The competition was intense and exciting, culminating in Dr. Li Dong from Peking University Cancer Hospital winning the championship with his solid theoretical knowledge and exceptional technical skills.
Technological Innovation: Showcasing "Made in China" to the World
At the conference, domestic and international manufacturers showcased their latest equipment and technologies in the field of tumor ablation, fostering integration between the domestic and international industries. ECO is one of the few local companies in China that has successfully scaled the export of independently developed high-end medical equipment to developed countries. ECO's microwave ablation technology and products have been successfully applied in thousands of surgeries across 80 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
This academic event not only covered the latest achievements in ablation technology, clinical practice, and concepts but also highlighted the shared desire among experts in the ablation field, both domestically and internationally, to pursue progress, explore the future, and collectively contemplate the path forward.
